After a couple days off back home in San Mateo its time to hit the road again. This time I’ll be going across all the US, and Canada, and, wait, this is just like the last two times. Moving around is starting to feel more normal than staying still.
Got a chance to get in some photography with my Dad and Seamus.

This tour I’m working as patch tech, which means I’m incharge of all the cables and where they go. Not a small task. Day one of preproduction I open my first case and what do I find?

Someone at the shop (Jason) had left me a present… or apparently I had left them a present in the form an amp rack filled with bamboozle tour schedules. Its a gift that keeps on giving.
Ever want to see a semi go offroading?

The end of the run. Had a real stage and a very nice wooded grove to play in.

Massive thunderstorm moved in… right after my stage was all packed and ready to be loaded.
From Bamboozle 2010 |
Tom and I quickly made a big gear pile and double wrapped it in plastic. Then as the lightning drew nearer and the rain started we headed over to the mainstage to help them. They got caught right in the middle of a set and had a lot more gear to cover.
From Bamboozle 2010 |
Pretty thoroughly drenched and with the lightning drawing even nearer all power was shut off. Then we, and a sizable crowd, waited. As each crack of lightning sounded the crowd cheered. At various times a chant for a band would spring up. One band member went running through the venue as the audience chased him. After some time of this the rain let up and gear was uncovered. It was decided that the main PA was too wet to resume, but no one wanted a canceled show. The solution? Four self powered QSC speakers run from a big orange extension cord.
From Bamboozle 2010 |
The last three bands all did acoustic sets into the sun breaking though the clouds. I felt like exploring and wandered off.
